Non-profits can apply directly at theackermanfoundation.org
CLAVERACK, NY – The Ackerman Foundation opens its 2025 grant application cycle on March 15. New this year, the grant ceiling has been raised to $5,000 from $2,500.
The application portal was established last year when the Foundation introduced its new website, theackermanfoundation.org, and allows qualified, non-profit organizations to submit applications for program funding by filling out an online form and uploading required supplemental information.
The process provides compatibility with commonly used office software including Word, Excel, PDF, and JPEG formats. An FAQ section on the website provides answers to commonly asked questions about eligibility and other application requirements.
This year’s application window closes on May 5, with grant awards announced on July 1.
Last year, the Foundation funded 29 community non-profit organizations, totaling $50,000, bringing total grants since the Foundation began operations in 2022 to over $100,000.
Applications are evaluated based on appropriateness to stated grant guidelines, assessment of need, likelihood of significant impact, and importance to the community served. The applicant’s board and organizational strength are also considered, as is the degree of volunteer involvement.
Successful grantees are expected to provide a report on the effectiveness of the activities funded by the grant.
The Foundation’s mission is to support activities that benefit people and animals in Columbia County, New York. It honors the life and work of long-time local businessman David Ackerman, who established the Foundation shortly before his death in January 2022.
