NEW WEBSITE FACILITATES FUNDING FOR NON-PROFITS

CLAVERACK, NY — A new, fully-featured website for The Ackerman Foundation has recently gone live in conjunction with the opening of a new grant application cycle on April 1.

In an additional step of adopting a public identity, the Foundation has also introduced a new logo that brands the website and other materials. In a simple geometric design using New York Jets green and a bright blue, the logo reflects both the no-nonsense attitude and favorite colors of David Ackerman, who established the Foundation before his death in January 2022.

The website — theackermanfoundation.org — features an application portal where qualifying non-profits can fill out and submit grant application forms and upload supplemental information. The process provides compatibility with commonly used office software, including Word, Excel, PDF, and JPEG formats.

The current application cycle closes on May 15, with awards announced on July 1.

The new website also offers background information on the Foundation, its mission and history, administrative and contact information, profiles of board members, and an FAQ page addressing questions applicants may have.

The Ackerman Foundation’s two previous grant cycles in 2022 and 2023 resulted in support to 24 community non-profits totaling $53,000. Currently, the maximum individual grant amount is $2,500.

Applications are evaluated based on appropriateness to stated grant guidelines, assessment of need, likelihood of significant impact, and importance to the community served. The applicant’s board and organizational strength are also considered, as is the degree of volunteer involvement.

Website construction and logo design were handled by local firms, Dandelion Design and Tangent Web Services.
