APPLICATIONS DUE BY MAY 31

CLAVERACK—Today, the Ackerman Foundation announced the opening of its 2023 grant cycle. Applications can be submitted between April 15 and May 31, with decisions announced by July 1. Applications due by May 31

For the second year, the Foundation will be providing a limited number of competitive grant awards of up to $2,500. Grants will be awarded to local organizations providing immediate impact activities that improve the quality of life in Columbia County and the surrounding area.

Last year’s inaugural awardees included the Columbia County Recovery Kitchen, Friends of Hudson Youth, Friends of the Public Square Hudson, High & Mighty Therapeutic Riding and Driving Center, Hudson Hall, and PS21.

Grant requirements include recognized IRS non-profit status. The application requires a 500- word description of how the grant money will be used, the outcomes expected, and the benchmarks for measuring success. Supporting materials required include budgets, organizational financial statements, and bios of principals.

The Foundation was established by David M. Ackerman prior to his unexpected passing in January 2022. Ackerman was well-known as a businessman and quiet philanthropist in a career stretching over 50 years in Hudson and Columbia County. The Foundation looks to carry on his goal of improving lives and opportunities locally while focusing on activities that build community capability and enjoyment.
